Ghana doesn't exist without Fufu.
Fufu is made from cooked Cassava and Plantain and served with a light soup.
In this workshop attendees had to bring all their strength together. Most of the local dishes in Ghana come with a lot of hard work. Whether it is Kenke, Banku or Fufu, women are using all their muscle power to prepare that food almost daily.
For Fufu you need to cook the cassava root together with plantain. When all is cooked the fun part starts. To prepare fufu one person has to sit down next to a wooden bowl called Mortar. This person will turn the mashed root and plantain around. The second person will be standing d pounding the root with a pistle. Each time when the pistle is raised the sitting person will turn the mass around. The fufu is ready when the mass is smooth and soft.
