Tacos, Enchiladas and Tortillas

Updated: Feb 2, 2019

Do you know what the differences between all these tortilla dishes is? In this workshop I showed what makes the Taco turn into an enchilada.

On the 31st of December I offered a little workshop in a cottage where a little group of friends decided to spend new year. For this workshop I decided to show differences in preparing the mexican corn tortilla. After we prepared the side dishes I explained how the preparation for chalupas, enchiladas, tostadas and tacos varies. The attendees then could prepare their own tortilla according to my explanations.

A popular sauce in mexico is called Mole poblano. The brown sauce is famous for its unique taste. Ingredients like nuts, chocolate, chili, tortillas and different spices create this extraordinary spicy taste. For people who are not used to spices the taste of this sauce was something totally new. A lot of people liked it and for some it was just...weird.

I believe the more you eat that sauce the more you like it and after a few times theres no other way then falling in love with the spicy chocolate taste.

"Im not sure whether I like that brown sauce..."

Typical side dishes are guacamole, frijoles refritos, salad, chicken, cheese and some different salsas.

While for tostadas and tacos you use all of these fillings, for chalupas and echiladas its normally only chicken and cheese.
